Name: Yarthel
Gender: Male
Age: 4 (Adolescent for a dragon)
Weight: 1500 lbs (Medium-sized for a dragon)

Description
Yarthel’s blood is a mix of water dragon and air dragon, resulting in a rare ice dragon. Though he takes more after his water dragon heritage in his light blue coloring, he does not have to stay submerged in water to survive. With a wingspan of 30 feet, he enjoys spending about as much time in the air as he does in the water. From the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail is 30 feet long.

His eyes are a luminous sea-green with cat-like pupils. Two thick horns jut forward from the back of his head, and he has a small horn on the top of his nose and on the underside of his chin. Fin-like spines and webbing protrude along the back of his neck, stopping around his shoulders, then reappear at his back haunches and go down his tail, which is triple forked and can be controlled like another set of claws.

History
As an egg, Yarthel was stolen by a human who hoped to be able to use the rare ice dragon for his own purposes. When Yarthel hatched, he and the human did not bond, but the human raised him, hoping that when he was older, he’d be useful. Yarthel eventually learned what the human had done and what his plans were. Not wishing to have any part in the human’s selfish schemes, Yarthel made his escape. He’d spent the next few years half-heartedly searching for his parents, but having no clue as to where the human had found him, he had no clue as to where he should look.

He took to living in the woods, where an older dragon took pity on him and looked for a time before passing away. By that time, Yarthel had learned enough to be able to take care of himself, which he did for the next couple years of his life. One day, he came upon a small group of travelers on the edge of the wood and saved the life of a human female with flaming red hair. From then on, he became a part of this ecclectic group comprised of werewolves, dragoons, humans and dragons other than himself. He and the redheaded girl seemed to share a special connection, one that he is sure will grow into a full Bond, given time. They're already able to understand each other in a manner beyond verbal speech, which is slowly turning into true telepathic communication. Neither of them is very used to it yet.

Personality/Likes/Dislikes
Yarthel is of a cautious nature. He’s rather untrusting of humans after being egg-napped, although he’s honestly always been curious of the connection shared by bonded dragons with their human partners. It gives him some small hope that maybe some humans could be trusted… maybe. He’s polite, in any case, in hopes of maybe discovering more trustworthy humans. Even-tempered, he doesn’t take offense easily and is more likely to try and talk his way out of a fight.

Protective, he won’t hesitate to keep safe that which is important to him, be it his own freedom, or a friend if he ever ventured to make one.

He loves swimming and flying equally, as well as cold, brisk days. He very much dislikes intense heat. When it comes to drinking water, he can be a little finicky.

Strengths/Weaknesses
Yarthel’s strength lies in his speed, both in the water and in the air. Being of a small to medium build and weight, a larger dragon could easily overpower him. In the event of a fight, he is more likely to take off in flight than stay to fight, although a parting blast of ice might happen first. If, for whatever reason, he must stay and fight, Yarthel will coat himself with a layer of ice as some added protection, and then either try to freeze his opponent in place or attempt to gore his opponent with is forward facing horns. Even if that didn’t do much damage, he can at least hope to stun his opponent long enough to get away. Needless to say, he thrives in cooler environments.

He is weakest when it’s hot out. The heat saps his strength, and he feels sluggish and tired. Should he find a friend or companion to take care of, he would protect them with his life, whether that meant carrying them away to safety or fighting to the death. Yarthel cannot speak verbally, only telepathically with other dragons. Renza is the only human with which he seems able to communicate with otherwise, although the addition of her voice occasionally echoing through his head can be very distracting.

I adore your dragon drawings. I cannot draw dragons for the life of me. *chuckles*
